Check list: Does your Domestic Helper know:

¨Home Safety / Childproofing /Preventing Childhood Injuries?

¨What action to take at an Emergency?

¨Finding out what’s wrong – Assessment of injuries?

¨Deal with bleeding - know the signs and symptoms of shock and what position to put your child in?

¨Look after wounds or impaled objects?

¨Treatment for burns?

¨What to do for head injury and what signs & symptoms to be aware of following a bump to the head?

¨Could she cope and give the right First Aid treatment for a fracture of arm or leg (break or crack in bone)?

¨Know what to do if she found your child with an empty medication bottle laying next to them?

¨If your baby or child started to choke could she clear the obstruction before they collapsed and stopped breathing?

¨If your baby or child stopped breathing would she know how to do Rescue Breathing?

¨If your child stopped breathing followed by the heart stopping very shortly afterwards would she be able perform (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) until the ambulance arrived?

¨Has your helper attended a First Aid & CPR course within the last 3 years
